Evacuation lift lobby

The 2026 amendment to Approved Document B, Fire Safety, Volume 1: Dwellings, defines an evacuation lift lobby as: ‘An area protected from fire and smoke ingress by fire resisting construction and smoke control measures, providing direct access to an evacuation lift, where a person can wait for a lift service in relative safety while an evacuation is underway.’
